It’s Academy Awards week. And we’re excited because movies frequently offer great inspiration for spicing up out sex life. In honor of the upcoming Oscars, we’ve prepared a list of some films that may not be first in your mind, but we think you may want to reconsider these ultra romantic nominees.
Casablanca
This 1942 film won three Academy Awards. Set amidst the intrigue of World War II, Casablanca is about a man (Humphrey Bogart) torn between his love for a woman (Ingrid Bergman) and his idealism which causes him to help her and her husband to escape from Nazi sympathizers. Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman participate in the best make-out scenes ever in Casablanca. And no one can look away when during his goodbye speech at the airport.
Notorious
A 1946 thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock, starring Cary Grant, Ingrid Bergman (we can’t get enough of her) and Claude Rains as three people whose lives become intimately entangled during an espionage operation in South America. The most erotic kiss ever on screen in an Academy Award-nominated film takes place between Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman. You won’t want to miss it.
Pillow Talk
This Doris Day/Rock Hudson romantic comedy stole the Academy Award for best screen play in 1959. The slightly racy theme set the tone for more Day/Hudson films, using deception and mistaken identity to fuel the sexual tension between the two stars. The split screen technique used in the film puts them in 'compromising' positions (each in his/her own bed or in the bathtub) talking intimately on the phone. It’s hotter than you think! And funny! She’ll be begging for phone sex after you watch this movie together. Or maybe a bubble bath….
Out Of Africa
This 1985 film won seven Academy awards. Set in the sweeping locale of African safari country, the film explores an aristocrat’s (Meryl Streep) attempts to make sense of her marriage to one man as she finds herself falling in love with an English big game hunter (Robert Redford). She returns home to Denmark with a treasure of memories and a lifetime of rich experiences. It just doesn’t get any better than when he washes her hair while their camping in the middle of nowhere. It just doesn’t!
Shakespeare in Love
Set in Elizabethan times, this 1998 romantic comedy purports to tell the story of William Shakespeare as he struggles to overcome writer’s block by seeking inspiration in a love affair with an Elizabethan noblewoman. The references to lines from Shakespeare’s plays won’t be missed by any fan of romance. And there’s some naughty make-out scenes that will make you sit up and take notice.
Brokeback Mountain
Nominated for eight Oscar awards in 2005, Brokeback Mountain eventually went on to win three of them for the Best Director, Adapted Screenplay and Original Score. The film is an epic romance that depicts the complex relationship between two cowboys in the American West over a period of two decades. It’s like Romeo and Juliet – without Juliet… pure romance.
After you’ve watched these hot Academy Award-nominated films you may want to add some spice to your sex life by suggesting a reenactment of some of the sex scenes in your own bedroom. And why not? The Oscar-worthy performances in these movies are sure to prompt a standing ovation -- no speech required.
