New Study Says Sex Feels Good With Or Without

You may have said it yourself, or your partner may have been the one complaining…sex isn't the same when you're using a condom.

Or is it?

New research suggests that  people like sex just fine with or without condoms.

Using data gathered in 2009 for the National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior -- Debby Herbenick, a sex researcher at Indiana University’s Center for Sexual Health Promotion -- and her team gathered information from 1,645 men and women ages 18 to 59 whose most recent sexual interlude included intercourse.

Nearly 28 percent of men and about 22 percent of women said they’d used condoms. That's higher than 2008 statistics from the CDC, which showed about 10 percent of women used condoms as opposed to other birth-control methods or no contraception at all.

But the best news is that the reports of sexual arousal, ease of erection, overall pleasure and orgasm weren’t much different for the people who used condoms from those who didn't.

The study also found that there is a need for better communication about sexual preferences, in part to make safe sex more desirable. Most of the respondents used lubricant on the outside of the condom, when a little lubricant inside the tip can increase pleasure for men.

Strategies For Bouncing Back After A Break Up

It's seems like it's that time of year. After the holidays and before Valentine's Day, people with leaving on their mind, make the break. It's the time of broken hearts.  And the gloomy days of winter don't do a lot for anyone who's nursing a broken heart to move on to the next happy phase of life. So, what should you do if you're trying to get back into the swing of things after a broken heart? We've got a few ideas.

1. Get grateful

If you and your partner have decided to split, and your relationship status has changed, it's time for you to move on. Try not to focus on the negative aspects of the relationship. The things that people say when a bad relationship is coming unglued aren't necessarily the truth. Things may be said in anger. Try to be upbeat and put the focus on the positive parts of your life. And they are there in abundance. In fact, now is a great time to make a list of everything in your life that brings you joy. Make the list as often as you need to in order remind yourself about things you that make you happy.

2. Put on your Sunday suit

Get your hair done. Go shoe shopping. Buy yourself an electronic gift -- a new tablet or a TV for the bedroom. Now is not the time to get the radical hair cut you've always been too chicken to do. It's not the time to move to a foreign land or make heavy duty financial decisions. But take steps to make sure that you look like your best self.

3. Spend time with people you love and trust.

Everyone should have one person that the can turn to in a crisis. Find that persona and spend time with them in places that feel safe and comfortable to you. Don't return to places that remind you of the relationship that just ended until you're feeling better.  And now is probably not the best time to start dating. You'll know when it feels right for you again.

4. Avoid drugs & alcohol

A big glass of red wine may seem like just the thing to cure a broken heart, but there is nothing that will depress you and have you in tears faster than alcohol. It isn't a good idea when you're already feeling blue.

5. Get perspective

Talk to your friends. If you feel like you need to -- talk to a professional. Without assigning blame, see if you can figure out where the relationship went wrong, so that when you meet someone new, you'll be able to have learned a listen from your past romance.

6. Don't drunk dial

You and your partner both need a little time away from each other to heal and move on. Try not to get in touch. This is especially important if you don't take tip #4 and avoid drinking. Getting together for a booty call or crying on the phone with your ex won't help you move forward to a better place.

7. Get comfortable
Now is the time to get comfortable being alone with yourself again. Go to the movies alone. Take yourself out to the movies. Indulge in some seriously fun solo sex. Treat yourself well.  How else will you know how you want to be treated when someone new comes along?

Life is like a roller coaster. If you're at the bottom of the hill right now, you'll be back at the top soon. You just have to hang on for a bit and enjoy the ride.

Get Romantic On A Midwinter Holiday!

Many people will enjoy a three day weekend in January due to the federal holiday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. It may be the middle of winter, but it's great time to get out there and try something new! There are so many ways you can volunteer to help the fight for equal rights for all Americans. Or you can just enjoy a romantic three-day weekend, and turn the extra day off into some much-needed quality time with your significant other. There's no better time for romance than when it's chilly outside.  No matter how you decide to spend your weekend, we've got some great ideas to inspire you.

Get involved! Embrace the spirit of MLK Day and spend some time volunteering. It's a great time to take action and be of service to your community. The bonus is that you may learn something new. The time you spend working for a good cause will make you feel good about yourself. Single? Volunteering is a great way to make new friends and meet new people.

Get into the mood! Create a romantic at-home three-day weekend around your favorite movie or television show. Rent some movies in your favorite genre and decorate the house. Then chill the champagne and treat yourselves to some strawberries dipped in chocolate.  Want to have even more fun?  Plan a little role playing. You and your partner can dress up in costumes from your favorite movie.

Go on a winter retreat! You can book a room at an upscale hotel and buy tickets for a concert or play. Dress up and do the town! Or pamper yourselves with three days at a resort spa. Enjoy a massage, and treat yourselves to a pedicure or facial. Or make reservations at a country inn with a lake or ocean view. Make sure you get a room with a fireplace. If it's warm enough, take a brisk walk on the beach.

Get naughty! The best part of a three-day weekend is that you can turn Sunday night into a "dirty date" night with your significant other. Head out for dinner and a movie dressed in nothing but a pair of knee-high leather boots and a little scrap of lingerie under your overcoat. The anticipation for will drive you both wild. On the way home you can stop off at your local "Lover's Lane" for a little make-out session.

Explore new cultures!  Get inspired by MLK Day to find out more about people with different backgrounds. Find a local street fair, festival or museum.  Then go out of for an ethnic meal. There is nothing more exciting than both experiencing something unique for the first time together.  Select a restaurant together, or better yet, plan a surprise for your partner.
