It's time to fall back from Daylight Savings. That means
this Sunday at 2am, it will stay 2am for an extra hour. This little treat may be one of the
highlights of the long cold dark winter to follow. The best part of Daylight
Savings is the illusion of the extra hour of time that magically appears.
You can do whatever you want with the "extra" hour
of time you've been gifted. You can treat it as any other ordinary day and just
set your clocks back and go about your business. Or you can recognize that it's
a special day and really celebrate it.
Here's ten things you can do with your extra hour this
Sunday:
1. Get up and get going!
Why sleep in when you can get up early and get out and
celebrate this special day! Do all of those things that you've been putting off
for so long. It's a great way to kick off the holiday season -- when there's
always too much to do and too little time to do it in.
2. Find a new favorite TV show
There never was a better time for a Netflix marathon than
during the extra hour that you get from falling back from Daylight Savings
Time. Just think of how cool all of your friends will think you are when they
find out that you've been watching Homeland and Walking Dead from the very
beginning.
3. Pamper yourself
There's no reason to go to bed on time, but if you don't
want to go out on the town to use up your extra hour, then pamper yourself at
home with massages. You can take your time and hit all the good parts -- you've
got nothing but time.
4. Get lost in a good book
There's no reason to only read one chapter if you find
yourself in the middle of a page-turned. Go ahead and read until you just can't
keep your eyes open any more.
5. Deepen your intimacy
Take the time to talk with your partner. Share details that
you may have put off because you didn't have the time before -- you'll be
surprised at where a good conversation can lead.
6. Go to a midnight movie or close down a club
It's not a school night, so there's no bedtime. You can get
out and party all night long if you want to. Just make sure to be safe and have
a designated driver.
7. Buy new batteries
It's time to check all of your battery-operated appliances
-- including the smoke detector and most importantly, your vibrator. You don't
want to have to go out looking for C-cell batteries on a dark and horny night.
8. Sleep or recharge
Let's face it, sometimes the best way to celebrate an extra
hour is with a good nap.
9. Research your local election ballot
This could be the first year that you don't cast some votes
for people you've chosen just because you like their last name. Go ahead, do
some online research and get involved. It's a great way to be an informed
citizen.
10. Have sex.
Do it twice. You do have an extra hour, you know.
