Did You Miss National Big "O" Day? Tips from The MD.

Did you miss national orgasm day?

National Orgasm Day, July 31, 2014, has come and gone but we’re still celebrating and we want you to come with us!  Joking aside, many, if not most of us, have too few orgasms. And it’s high time to fix that!

Did You Miss National Big "O" Day? Tips from The M.D.

Here are some great tips for putting the big “O” back on top as a national priority and enjoying bodacious orgasms on a regular basis. These points come from “The Sex M.D.,” Dr. Madeleine Castellanos, who is a respected author and sex therapist in New York. She says, “Our sexual functioning cannot be separated from our overall health and happiness.” In other words, good orgasms = good health!

Dr. C’s tips:

1) Getting to orgasm is easiest when you are relaxed and focused on what’s erotic for you.

2) Learning how to time your breathing can help you reach orgasm more easily.

3) Orgasms cause the release of increased DHEA which is what makes your skin glow and look younger.

4) Using Wet Platinum Premium Silicone Lubricant, accepted as a 510(k) medical device, makes great sex viable and long-lasting even in the shower.  Caution: Very slippery!

5) Orgasms come in all sizes and intensities, so take the time to explore all the variations.

6) Even though orgasms are fantastic, the less you focus on them as a goal in sex, the more likely you are to heighten your arousal and actually reach orgasm.

7) Orgasms help a woman’s brain relax more profoundly than any other activity, even meditation.

8)  If you aren’t getting regular orgasms from sexual activity, take matters into your own hands and masturbate so you can orgasm at least 3 times per week.

9) Using an intimate health and stimulation device strengthens the pelvic floor muscles, which are key to achieving healthy orgasms and also preventing incontinence.

Sex Myths – Busted! Vaginal Dryness – It's A Problem Only For The Post-Menopausal, So Only Older Women Need Lubricants

Wrong and Busted! The belief that only post-menopausal women experience vaginal dryness is a misconception and it is important for younger women to be informed.  Vaginal dryness can occur at any age, for many reasons, and surely can be due to menopause as well.  Of course, we are partial to using lubrication during sex as it enhances sexual satisfaction no matter what the age.  But there are several important medical factors that can leave a woman needing the additional moisture.

1. Birth Control Pills – Women of all ages may be on the pill, and while a lucky few find the pill to be libido-enhancing, (most likely because the fear of getting pregnant is not on their mind and they are able to relax);  for others, taking a birth control pill can cause a drop in hormone levels that are responsible for lubrication causing vaginal dryness and in some cases painful sex.  Using lubrication on and around the vagina and on his penis will greatly enrich your experience.

2. Bike-Riding – Yeah, you know that great spin class you have that makes you lean forward? Seriously, for those who spend hours cycling: If your handle bars are too low and you find yourself leaning forward, putting too much weight on the pelvis can cause low blood supply to the vaginal area which may cut off the ability to orgasm! Don’t believe me? Click here to watch Dr. Lauren Streicher explain it all.

3. Sex After Hysterectomy – Although we hope you don’t need this procedure, if you do have to have a hysterectomy, from medical necessity, it is important to use a lubricant when having sex for the first time after this surgery.  It will make you and your partner much more comfortable and worry-free and isn’t that what great sex is all about? Leaving your worries at the door.

Wet Personal Lubricants are available in a variety of types from silicone-based, water-based, glycerin-free, and hybrids of all of these. If you have any of the medical issues above be sure to talk with your own doctor about them, but we recommend silicone-based Wet Platinum Premium Personal Lubricant for you.  It is our slickest, most long-lasting formula and it is silky smooth, doctor recommended, condom compatible and an FDA accepted medical device.  Also, it’s now kosher!  You're welcome!

Are You Celebrating Your Health?

There's no better time than now for women to take stock of their health.
We're in the middle of National Women’s Health Week, May 12th-18th. This week of awareness is an effort by the U.S. Department of Health’s Office on Women’s Health to encourage women to make health a priority.

"Since our Nation's founding, women have given their all to expanding opportunity for their families and for future generations. Decade after decade, that fierce dedication has been rewarded with remarkable progress in nearly every part of society; yet all too often, advances in women's health and well-being have lagged behind."

During National Women's Health Week, we hope everyone is committed to changing reality and increasing access to health services that help women get the care they need.
You can read the Presidential Proclamation in its entirety on the White House website.

The good news is that we've made a lot of strides in the overall health of U.S. women, according to federal government statistics. But there’s still room for improvement. It all starts with you. So if you're not getting in charge of your heath now, when are you going to do it?

It's Time To Cele-Bate!

It's National Masturbation Month. That's right, the whole month of May is dedicated to being healthy and making sure that you frequently pleasure yourself. Not only is it a terrific way to reduce stress, it's also a great way to maintain your sexual health.

The month of awareness began in 1995 in response to former US Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders, being fired after speaking out about masturbation as a safer sex practice that should be taught in schools.

There is also a month-long masturbate-a-thon being held this year in Philadelphia. You can find out more about it on Huffington Post.com
