10 Things To Do During A Hurricane

As Hurricane Sandy begins to unleash hell on the eastern seaboard, it seems like a good time to stay home.  Even if you end up without power -- including heat, electricity and -- gasp! -- the internet,  there’s still loads of stuff to do around the house as you wait (and pray) for the storm to pass without doing too much harm.

1. Evacuate!
If the authorities tell you to get out, get out! Go to a Red Cross shelter if you have to, but staying behind could put your life and the lives of others at risk. Which brings us to number two…

2.  Help others
Keep your eyes and ears open for others in need and do what you can to keep each other safe without putting yourselves in harm's way.

3. Get social
No, not social media. Give your iPhone a rest. Invite other people over -- especially people who may be directly in the storm's path and are being evacuated from their homes. Light a fire in the fireplace, pass out blankets, break out the junk food rations, play board games, play poker, and enjoy spending some time together.

4.  Find the bottom of your "in box"
It's there, hiding beneath all of the bills and business that you never have to time or attention to attend to…you've got a little extra of both -- why not take this time to get organized?

5.  Catch up on your correspondence
There's a reason why William Shakespeare is quoted time and time again -- he's a great writer! And he also had a lot of practice writing letters with a quill pen by the light of a candle. You don't have to have access to email to send notes to friends.

6. Start drinking!
Now is the time to start drinking. Invite a few friends over and taste a flight of wine, or beer, or whiskey or tequila… Or you can have a cocktail contest -- who can make the best mixed drink named after Hurricane Sandy? It's five o'clock somewhere -- and if there isn't a happy hour during a hurricane when is there one?

 7.  Clean the house
Can't sit still? Put your nervous energy to good use and do the deep cleaning around the house that you're always wishing that you had the time to do.

8. Read a dirty book
Indulge your imagination with a little bit of erotica. Or let yourself drift away to someplace warm and idyllic in a romantic adventure. You don't have to ever stop.

9.  Take a nap
Are you always operating on the edge of sleep deprivation? Now is a great time to settle in and enjoy a little relaxation. There's nothing you can do, so let yourself slumber.

10. Have lots of sex!
People managed to get along just fine without lights, computers, or TV long before electricity. How is this possible?  They were getting' it on! You don't have to go all the way! Making out is also fun and romantic when you're worried that you may not live through the eye of the hurricane. If you're not in a relationship, get busy. If you're single, you should get busy too!  We hope you bought extra batteries (and lube) during your storm prep.

Get Scared At A Haunted Spa

Now that summer is over and the holidays are still way off in the near future, it's the perfect time to take a relaxing trip to a spa. You can relax and indulge all your senses.  Spa treatments will balance your mind, body, and spirit.  Speaking of spirits -- you can find ghostly spirits who are haunted the halls at many spas too.

Spa Finder has put together a list of the top 10 haunted spa hotels that you can go to visit. What's better than a haunted house, a haunted hotel, of course, because then you can spend the night. If you love hearing a spooky ghost story, or scaring yourself to death with a horror move, this might just be the place for you.  And you never know, you just might encounter a ghost or two riding the elevator, or lingering in the lobby after midnight. Let's face it, a spa vacation is such a wonderful idea that you'll probably never want to leave either…

Is Halloween The Hottest Time For Hook Ups?

Halloween provides plenty of opportunities for meeting new people and re-energizing long-term relationships. The masquerade -- the act of concealing your face -- and dressing in disguise encourages people to leave their everyday personalities behind and step outside themselves. A Halloween costume party lends itself to cocktails, festive party games and lots and lots of flirting. Even if you've got a long-term partner, when you're both dressed up for Halloween, it may feel like a first date.

Choosing what to wear for Halloween is very important. Your costume will play a part in how much fun you have. It's worth putting in extra effort to ensure that you stand out from a crowd of vampires, ghosts and zombies. And just as a reminder, so you don't get yourself into any trouble, couples costumes are everywhere. Should you meet a Wilma, make sure you check over your shoulder for Fred Flintstone. He won't be far behind.

Here are five reasons why Halloween is the sexiest time of year:

1. Sexy Costumes
Let's face it, most women describe their Halloween costume by saying, "I'm going as a sexy (insert name of animal, fairy or princess) here. Key word is "sexy". Halloween is an excuse to show off what you've got going on. So it's not difficult to find yourself attracted to someone on Halloween night. Just remember, women aren't likely to want to make out with a guy who's sporting an open axe wound on his head. And don't forget that any weapons -- even though they're made out of plastic -- can be dangerous out on the streets. Use caution outside of bars and parties.

2. Easy Opening Lines
"So who are you?" The question is de rigueur at any Halloween costume party. You don't have to dream up a pithy opening line. Questions about each other's costumes -- and the thinking behind it -- are completely expected. So get out there and mix and mingle -- you'll have plenty to talk about with your new friends.

3.  Fantasy party locations
Many people decorate their homes to resemble graveyards before they invite a bunch of people over to the house to celebrate Halloween. But many Halloween parties are held in barns and historic "haunted" locations that probably aren't open during other times of the year. You may be able to get inside of the old abandoned theatre that you've wondered about for years. Or maybe it's a historic farm house. It could be a room with a fantastic view. Halloween is wonderful time to push the fantasy to the limit.

4. Role-playing
We all played dress up games when we were kids, now pretending to be someone else can be taken to a whole new level. Role playing and fantasy at Halloween are great ways to be intimate with your partner at Halloween. And if you're single, role playing at Halloween can turn someone shy into someone bold. You never know who you might meet. Role playing can most certainly add passion to any relationship and an adventure into your lovemaking that may have been missing. The act of pretending to be somebody else can be a fun way of self-discovery, as well as to delve into each other’s imagination, dreams and desires.

5. Sexy party games
A Halloween party is a great time to bob for apples or pass fruit from neck to neck. You can find "dirty" board games at adult video stores or party planning centers. Or try putting a sexy twist on Truth or Dare, Chance and even Twister can be sexy if played right (keep in mind all the short skirts around). Find a partner who you find interesting and then let the games begin.

Halloween Horror: Are You Scared To Be Single?

Feeling freaked about your single status?

As the start of the holiday season approaches, many singles start getting the blues over not having a special someone to enjoy it with -- but instead of feeling bad about sleeping single in a double bed -- this is a great time of year to celebrate being fabulous without a significant other. Even better, it's the perfect time to meet someone.

Here's five great reasons not to be scared of being single during the holidays. This year, try embracing being single. Get out and date and and enjoy the holiday season. We've got five great ways for you to turn your fear of being single into the pleasure of meeting new and interesting people.

1. Halloween costume parties
Let's face it, going to parties stag is always a drag. But at Halloween, you can mask your fears by putting on a costume and being someone you aren't most of the year. Choose the kind of Halloween costume that will express your mood this year (Silly? Sexy? Sarcastic?) and then throw yourself into the spirit of the season. You just never know who you might meet at a Halloween party -- someone else with a spirit of adventure that matches your own.

2.  World Series Watch parties
You don't have to be a "homer" to enjoy baseball in October. The two teams that made it all the way through the playoffs are destined to create spectacular moments that everyone will be talking about, so go ahead and pick a team. Don't know anything about baseball? It's an easy sport to learn because it goes at such a slow pace.  Find someone who will give you a few pointers and get flirting. Are you an expert at baseball? Take the time to introduce someone new to the game.

3. Harvest suppers
Okay, so these kind of dinners often sound like the ones that are thrown by the ladies of the church or your dad's Rotary Club -- but just because a "harvest supper" has a tradition doesn't mean it has to be stuffy and old-fashioned. Put your own fantastic cooking skills to the test and invite a few friends over for feast with all the tastiest foods of the season. Ask each of your friends to bring a guest -- preferably someone you've never met before. A friend of a friend just might be your match.

4. Thanksgiving gatherings
There is always room for one more person at any Thanksgiving table, so don't make the mistake of staying home alone eating a frozen turkey dinner if you are miles and miles away from loved ones on the holiday. Let people know you are alone and accept the most intriguing invitation you are given -- no matter how mysterious it might be -- you will be surprised at the kindness that is shown by families on this particular holiday. And you never know, that single guy that Aunt Bessie wants to fix you up with just might turn out to be a hottie after all!

5. Holiday mixers
Put on your little black cocktail dress and head out for happy hour. It seems like almost every organization has a little end-of-year holiday gathering and you shouldn't turn down any invitations if you're single and ready to mingle. Don't go with any expectations, except to have fun and enjoy (usually free) nibbles and libations.
