Did You Miss National Big "O" Day? Tips from The MD.

Did you miss national orgasm day?

National Orgasm Day, July 31, 2014, has come and gone but we’re still celebrating and we want you to come with us!  Joking aside, many, if not most of us, have too few orgasms. And it’s high time to fix that!

Did You Miss National Big "O" Day? Tips from The M.D.

Here are some great tips for putting the big “O” back on top as a national priority and enjoying bodacious orgasms on a regular basis. These points come from “The Sex M.D.,” Dr. Madeleine Castellanos, who is a respected author and sex therapist in New York. She says, “Our sexual functioning cannot be separated from our overall health and happiness.” In other words, good orgasms = good health!

Dr. C’s tips:

1) Getting to orgasm is easiest when you are relaxed and focused on what’s erotic for you.

2) Learning how to time your breathing can help you reach orgasm more easily.

3) Orgasms cause the release of increased DHEA which is what makes your skin glow and look younger.

4) Using Wet Platinum Premium Silicone Lubricant, accepted as a 510(k) medical device, makes great sex viable and long-lasting even in the shower.  Caution: Very slippery!

5) Orgasms come in all sizes and intensities, so take the time to explore all the variations.

6) Even though orgasms are fantastic, the less you focus on them as a goal in sex, the more likely you are to heighten your arousal and actually reach orgasm.

7) Orgasms help a woman’s brain relax more profoundly than any other activity, even meditation.

8)  If you aren’t getting regular orgasms from sexual activity, take matters into your own hands and masturbate so you can orgasm at least 3 times per week.

9) Using an intimate health and stimulation device strengthens the pelvic floor muscles, which are key to achieving healthy orgasms and also preventing incontinence.

10 Reasons to Use Wet Platinum

Why Wet Platinum? Here are 10 of the top reasons to use Wet Platinum.

1. Wet Platinum Stays Wet Longer.
Wet Platinum is a silicone-based lubricant. Unlike water-based lubricants, silicone molecules are large and are not absorbed, so they remain on the surface of the skin. Because Wet Platinum contains no water, it does not evaporate either, giving you longer-lasting, slippery, friction-free love making and play sessions. There is no mood-breaking, stopping to re-apply necessary. Platinum is always slick, guaranteed never sticky, and doesn’t dry out.

2. Wet Platinum Makes Sex Better.
Vaginal dryness and anal sex without lube nearby, is sure to stop pleasurable intercourse in its tracks. At least one partner at this point may feel turned off and be thinking “I could really use some lubricant right now!” With the mood already at stake, you’re going to need something you can grab quick, apply, and be able to get your groove on. Wet Platinum is the best choice because it’s easy as 1, 2, and 3! Grab it, squeeze it, apply it and you’re ready to go. Absolutely no need to worry because Platinum gives you the perfect slippery glide, and won’t become messy, clumped up, dried out, or sticky. Platinum also won’t burn or disrupt your pH Balance. And since it won’t dry out, you just need a small amount. Apply Wet Platinum to your penis, vagina, sex toys*, and interior/exterior of your condom or anywhere else your heart desires, slip right in, work your magic and enjoy the ride.

*Please note that Wet Platinum is not recommended for use with silicone toys.

3.  Wet Platinum is Safer.
A 2010 Study by Microbicides: Building Bridges in HIV Prevention, named the Use Of Lubricants, Unprotected Anal Sex and the Risk of HIV, compared five lubricants against each other (Astroglide, Elbow Grease, ID Glide, KY Jelly and Wet Platinum). A sixth product named PRÉ was used as a control. The study was looking for the safest lubricant that did the least amount of damage to cellular walls, during anal sex. Damage to cell walls during sex can cause tearing and increase the likelihood of transmission of STI's. The study concluded that "Wet Platinum and PRÉ were the safest. The hyperosmolar nature of the other lubricant gels was associated with cellular toxicity and may lead to increased risk of HIV infection." Wet was the only silicone-based lubricant in the study. The others were water-based. This and one other study examining the effects of sexual lubricants used in anal sex were presented in April at the International Microbicides Conference.

Safety Precaution:  Wet Platinum is very slippery so take care to clean any spills immediately.

4. Wet Platinum Has Many Uses.
Dab it in your hair for some shine. Condition your skin and Latex Fetish Wear. Use it for vaginal and/or anal sex. Masturbate in the shower or in bed. Use a palm size amount to give your partner a sensual massage (and it won’t dry up!). Use it to get a really close shave, but be careful not to slip on it in the shower. Put a drop of Platinum on a sticking door or cabinet to stop the squeaking, or use it to untangle knotted bicycle or jewelry chains. Glide it over your body and slip easily in to your wetsuit. Detangle the tail and mane of your horse. The possibilities are endless!

5.  Wet Platinum Uses the Highest Quality Ingredients and is a 510k Accepted Medical Device.
Wet Platinum uses ingredients that are non-GMO (Genetically Modified Organism), gluten-free, vegan friendly, and contains only plant derived glycerin. Wet Platinum is an FDA (Food and Drug Administration) accepted, Class II medical device. It is also certified Kosher.  That’s right!  Platinum contains no animal-based ingredients and is manufactured and self-certified according to guidelines set forth by the Rabbinical Council of California.

6.  No Smell. No Taste.
A common complaint about personal lubricants is the way they taste and/or smell.
We take this complaint seriously. While Wet Platinum is an accepted medical device, it does not smell or taste like an antiseptic or any other chemical. It’s completely odorless, has no taste and is considered harmless if ingested.

7.  Doctor Recommended.
The Wet Platinum formula is non-irritating.  Since it has no pH, it won’t disrupt a woman’s pH balance.  Wet products are sampled in medical offices throughout the United States and Canada and have received stellar patient reviews and recommendations from medical doctors. Read more about why Wet is doctor recommended.

8.  Available Everywhere.
Wet has been widely available in love boutiques since 1989.  We understand that not everyone is comfortable visiting their local adult boutique and not all of us live in a city where adult boutiques exist. The adult boutiques do offer a wider selection of Wet products and other intimacy products so check them out if you have the opportunity.  For your convenience, Wet is now widely available in all major pharmacies and mass market retailers across the United States and Canada, and is available online as well, with discreet shipping at www.buywet.com.

“Not a day goes by that I do not mention your products,” says Dr. Jacob Klein. “The availability in CVS and Walgreens has certainly helped.”

To locate a store near you, that carries Wet, please visit Wet Locator.

9.  Can Be Used in Water.
There really is nothing better than hot sex in the shower. Besides installing handles on your shower walls to hold on to during your steamy sessions, the next essential item is a bottle of waterproof lubricant. Take silicone-based Wet Platinum in the shower with you, squirt some on your fingers, apply to self and/or partner and you’re ready to go. Wet Platinum can also be used in Jacuzzis, lakes, rivers, oceans, bathtubs, and swimming pools. The water will roll over the lube like a bead of water on a leaf. When you’re done and want to clean up just lather up and rinse off, or carry a package of baby wipes on you for fast efficient clean up.
Caution:  Silicone lubricants will break down the silicone seals on your hot tubs, spas and pools over time so it’s best to use it sparingly.

10.  It’s Good Karma!
We believe that companies are like individuals, each creating their own "Karma." Giving back has been paramount to us since our inception. Through our charitable giving program, we contribute to the work of more than 300 non-profit organizations worldwide.

5 Tips for Putting Sexual Topics on the Table

Our culture has created a wealth of taboo subjects and masturbation is merely one of them.  Whether wanting to discuss living out a fantasy together, trying a new sex position, experimenting with anal sex, or asking about getting tested for STDs, how does one broach the topic without sounding like you are unhappy with the present state of your relationship or without fearing rejection of your ideas?

In our last article “The Only Consent I Need Is My Own…”, we mention open communication and we say this often--open, honest communication drives intimacy.  While it should be easy to discuss sex with your partner, it isn’t always so simple. Even couples who have been together a long time can find it difficult to bring up new topics since people’s needs change over time.

How do you bring up that saucy subject? Here are some tips to remember before you start the discussion:

1.Have a Goal: First be clear on your own goals for the topic and how you feel. Do some self-reflection to understand what it is you really want, need, or desire and know where you might want to end up before you begin.  Stay focused on the topic.  Don’t allow other issues to creep into the conversation.

2.Find the Right Place and Time: Try to wait until you are at home or somewhere private.  If necessary, make a date or appointment to talk about it. Talking about sex in a public place may make your partner feel uncomfortable. It is better to do it somewhere that you can make eye contact and give it your full attention.  In the car while driving is not a good time or place for this. Don’t start the conversation if it’s time for the kids to take a bath, or your partner just stepped into the house from a long day at work. Stress and exhaustion could lead you down a negative result when all you wanted was a clear, frank discussion about your wants and needs.

3.Use Neutral Language: Don’t use any confrontational language or finger pointing.  Be sure any topic you bring up is in the nature of exploration and state up front that you are trying to make your wants, needs, and desires heard and that you will feel better in your relationship if you are allowed the opportunity.

4.Explain What You Want (and/or Don’t Want).  Be specific.  If you aren’t exactly sure what you want, now would be a good time to go through a yes, no, maybe list.  What is that?  Your new best friend.  Check out one of our favorites from blogger SmartHotFun Becca.  Ask your partner to fill out the chart as well.  It is a quick way to determine what your playing field really is. Everyone is different in terms of what turns them on and what turns them off. The better you become at communicating these things to each other, the easier it is for them to help you fulfill them.  Remember to respect what is a turn off to them.

5.Above All – Listen.  Once the conversation is started, it is important that you listen with respect and wait before responding.  Often miscommunications arise when one thinks they understand and jump in to explain and that makes people get defensive.  Wait. Listen. Relax. And if you have chosen the right time, refrained from defensive or accusatory language, the discussion should go better.

Conversation starters:

What would you think if I wanted to _____?

How often do you think about sex?

How would you feel if you found me watching porn without you? Turned on? Upset?

Tell me about a sexual fantasy you haven’t told me about before.

What was has been our hottest sexual experience together?

What is the most erotic thing two people can do together?

I feel like our sex life could be more exciting if we could try _________.  How do you feel about that?

February 14th Is Not Just Valentine’s Day, It’s Also National Condom Day!

Dr. Laura Streicher Recommends Lubricant, by Wet

Why is it important to have a National Condom Day you ask?  Unfortunately, most people don’t realize that HIV infections are still on the rise and this is in part because most infected people don’t even know they are infected.  Don’t be fooled into having unprotected sex just because your potential partner, especially a new partner, says they were recently tested and are “clean”.  They may truly believe they are telling the truth about having been cleared, when they may not even be aware that they are not. In fact, many who get tested for STD’s wrongly assume they are being tested for HIV when in reality, this is not necessarily true.  Your doctor or clinic will only test you for HIV if you specifically ask for that test, so even though they got an "All Clear" result from a recent visit, it may be only for the list of STDs the doctor tested for.  So, bottom line, if you are having sex, we always recommend having safe sex.

And we also suggest using a latex-friendly lubricant, whether having anal sex or not, it is a good idea when using a condom.  Studies have found there is less breakage of condoms when a lubricant is used.  No matter what your age, a lubricant will make your experience more enjoyable.  We want you to try it and let us know if you agree.  Dr. Laura Streicher agrees--which is why she helped us get the word out during her appearance on a Windy City Live in Chicago last June and helped us in the  distribution of 50,000 safe sex kits there. Watch the video of Dr. Streicher's appearance on Windy City Live to hear what she says about choosing a silicone or water-based lubricant and much more during her Q and A from the viewers, watch the hilarity…

And remember ladies, if you are old enough to be having sex, then don’t be shy…carry your own condoms.  Don’t rely on him to bring a condom to the party.  And of course, get tested!

Endometriosis: Sometimes the Cure Is Worse Than The Problem

Endometriosis is commonly thought of as a condition associated with mid-life women, but in truth, it spares no age group. Any menstruating woman can have endometriosis, whether they are a teen or heading towards their last tampons.  It is estimated that approximately 7 to 10 percent of premenopausal women have endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a condition in which the glandular tissue that normally lines the uterine cavity appears other places, such as the lining of the pelvis, fallopian tubes, ovaries, bowel, bladder, and even unusual places like the lung. Each month during menstruation, this tissue responds to hormonal changes, just like the tissue that lines the uterine cavity. Since it is not where it’s supposed to be, various problems can ensue, such as scar tissue, inflammation, ovarian cysts, painful intercourse, infertility, and excruciatingly painful periods that get worse with time. The degree of pain is not necessarily related to the visible severity of endometriosis. Women appear to have minimal endometriosis sometimes suffer the most.

Treatment Options for Endometriosis
Not every woman requires treatment, but if someone has progressively painful periods, painful sex or other symptoms associated with endometriosis, there are a number of options:
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs), hormonal contraceptives, or progestin IUD’s such as Mirena or Skyla give adequate relief to many women. In some cases surgery is necessary to remove scar tissue, painful ovarian cysts or deep pelvic implants.  Some women with severe endometriosis require temporary total suppression of their hormones either in lieu of surgery, pre or post surgery.  This is done using an injectable gonadotropin-releasing hormones (GnRH) analogue to temporarily shut off estrogen production and suppress menses, causing endometrial implants, inflammation, and cysts to become inactive and regress.--The good news is that there is nothing better (short of a hysterectomy) to relieve symptoms from endometriosis. The bad news--because with this treatment GnRH shuts off estrogen, many women experience the same symptoms as a women in menopause including hot flashes, mood swings, and vaginal dryness. So be prepared.

Talk to your doctor about using an estrogen or progestin supplements to relieve symptoms. Know that this is a temporary situation, which will dramatically help in the long run. And don’t even think about having intercourse without using a really slippery silicone lube. My favorite product is Wet Platinum Premium Silicone Lubricant. Not only is it super slippery and long lasting, but also you don’t have to go to an erotica shop to buy it. It’s right in your drugstore, next to the hand held fan you should pick up to help with the hot flashes. Or if you rather not buy it in person, it is now available online and is shipped with discreet packaging.  Go to BuyWet.com to order Wet Brand products.

Sex After Hysterectomy -- Make It Slippery!

Over 500,000 women in the United States undergo hysterectomy each year.  One third of women will lose their uterus by age 60. Virtually every one of those women expresses concerns, to her doctor, to her partner, or herself about how hysterectomy will affect her sexual function, desire, and desirability. Unfortunately, studies have shown that only half of gynecologists initiate a discussion of sex and few patients (about 13 percent) are willing to bring it up themselves. That means a lot of women who worry about their postoperative sexuality do just that, worry.

Recent studies show that in the absence of ovary removal that initiates menopause, there are no significant adverse effects of hysterectomy on sexual function. A 1999 study published in The New England Journal of Medicine tracked over one thousand women during the two years after their surgeries and, unlike many earlier studies, evaluated sexual function both before and after hysterectomy. The results of the study were reassuring and validated what most gynecologists (but not most pre-op patients) knew all along. Seventy-seven percent of the women in the postoperative group were sexually active one year after surgery, in contrast to only seventy-one percent of the group the year before. This finding is not surprising, given that the study also demonstrated that the number of women who experienced pain during sex decreased from 19 percent to 4 percent. The bottom line is that for most women, frequency of sexual activity consistently increased and sexual pleasure increased.

So once you have had your final post hysterectomy check-up, and your doctor has given you the go-ahead to resume sexual activity, here’s how to make your first post hysterectomy experience one that was worth waiting 6 weeks for:

In spite of your doctor’s reassurances that everything will be fine, the biggest hurdle to overcome is fear. Many women are understandably nervous about having intercourse, thinking that it might create a problem or that they will experience pain. A nice warm bath and maybe a glass of Champagne will not only relax you, but also put you in the right frame of mind.

Pick a position that will allow you to be in control of how quickly things progress. Spooning on your side with your partner in back of you not only will be the most comfortable, but will protect a belly incision (if you have one).

In spite of your doctor’s OK, being somewhat apprehensive often results in a total lack of lubrication. In addition, if you went into menopause as a result of your hysterectomy, your vagina and vulva may be dry. So be prepared.

The right lubricant is essential. Silicone lubes are far more slippery than water based lubes and last longer. So, before you even contemplate intercourse, make sure to take a generous amount of Wet Platinum Premium Silicone Lubricant, put it all over your fingers and apply it to the outside of your vagina.

Don’t forget to also put some Wet Platinum over your partner’s penis. Since most men are a little leery about post hysterectomy sex (studies show many guys aren’t even sure what was actually removed!), applying lube to his penis will not only make things more slippery, but also distract him from any concerns he may have.

And go for it. You will be relieved to find that sex if anything, is better than it was before.

Things NOT To Do On A First Date

It's been trending for two days on Twitter. You know you've seen the #ThingsNOTToDoOnAFirstDate hashtag -- and there's a reason for that. First, it's because of the adorable video made by Connor Franta. Second, it's because we're all still a little anxious and confused about what we are supposed to do on a first date. For many people, it's a nerve-shattering experience.

While your hormones tell you that you should get a close as possible as soon as possible, your head is telling you that you need to take your time and get to know your date. It's no wonder you feel so conflicted and confused. We all do. So here are a few rules to stick to when you're on a first date.

1. Bring a friend.

2. Talk about religion or politics.

3. Take your date home to meet your mom, father, brother sister or cousins.

4. Spend too much money.

5. Hit on the waiter or waitress.

6. Use a discount coupon to pay for anything.

7. Keep checking your phone for emails, texts and calls.

8. Talk about your previous relationships.

9. Go to the movies. (Sitting in the dark for two hours is no way to get to know someone.)

10. Talk about yourself too much.

Bill Gates Wants A Better Condom

The Bill & Melissa Gates foundation is trying to build a better mousetrap, er...condom. Currently, there are something like 750 million global users of condoms, but as the as the foundation points out, condoms have been around for hundreds of years with limited innovation in all that time. Maybe it's time to try something new?

So the foundation is offering $100,000, with the possibility of up to $1 million, to aid in the development of a product that can make sex with a glove feel like sex without. So that people who don't use condoms will stop complaining of diminished sensation and confusing application and start using condoms. And lube. Find out more about the condom challenge on MSNBC.com

Six Sinful Places For Risky Sex

Summertime is almost here. That means the days will be longer and you'll be staying up later and wearing fewer clothes. It's a recipe for many loving couples to want to do something that they wouldn't think of doing during the cold winter months -- engage in risky sex.

You don't have to have sex in the great outdoors to enjoy the titillation of oh-my-gosh-what-if-we-get- caught sex. There are plenty of places where you can go in the great indoors to get it on.

We do have a few ground rules you might heed if you're thinking about taking a risk and getting it on outside of the master bedroom.  Don't go to a place where you know children hang out. Don't try it if you're wearing overalls and she's wearing her tightest jeans. Who's got that kind of time?  You won't be making love, this is going to be all about wham, bam, thank you, ma'am.  And yes, we have to say it -- don't get caught.

Here's a few location suggestions for the naughty couples who think that they'd like to see if they can get it on when no one is looking.

1. Model Home Open House
The sales agent who has an office in the garage wakes up from his afternoon nap long enough to tell you the price of the house and invite you to take a look around on your own. That's your cue to head upstairs to the master bedroom closet and get down and get funky.

2. Department Store Dressing Room
You can tell the sales clerk that you just want your husband's opinion about some new lingerie as you pull him into the dressing area and close the door. Just make sure you keep it quiet. There's a size 12 lady trying to squeeze into a size 10 in the room next door.

3. The Library
You've had this fantasy since college -- you've even scoped out the place in order to know which floor has the least traffic. So take the stairs and head up to the seventh floor stacks for seven minutes of Heaven.

4. Your Old Room In Your Parent's House
Seriously? The idea of getting it on in your old bunk beds isn't something that thrills everyone. But if you can talk her into it, why not? Just make sure you put a chair up against the door, just in case your mom wanders in to see what you want for breakfast.

5.  A Party
What fun! You're having a party just for two while in the next room there's a room full of party goers and loud thumping music.  Just make it fast, especially if you're using the only bathroom.

6. A Golf Course
This little exercise brings a whole new meaning to sand trap. Make sure you're well off the fairway when you head into the rough. And make sure you check for poison oak before disrobing.

Are You Sure You’re Doing It Right?

Condoms can be 98% effective in preventing pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases when used correctly, but new research from the Kinsey Institute Condom Use Research Team (CURT) has revealed that a lot of people are making mistakes when they put on a condom.

Between 17 and 51.1% of people put a condom on after they’ve started having sex, while between 13.6 and 44.7% said they took the condom off before they were done.

Men struggled with how to put on a condom.  Up to 45.7% of men questioned did not leave space at the tip for semen, while up to a quarter said they incorrectly unrolled the sheath.

Two studies also found that 74.5 per cent of men and 82.7 per cent of women didn't check the condom for damage before they used it.

How do you use a condom correctly?
